Family + Friends = Fun Weekend

Friday- Joseph met with his little playmate, Emily, for some fun driving buses and boats! It was amazing to see how well Emily was doing and to watch them play together was so cute! The doctors and nurses at Kosair's worked miracles for our little ones so we could enjoy them today! Susanne and I caught up on the latest when we weren't chasing the kiddos around the mall!

(I would have more pictures posted, but most of them were blurred from a slow-shutter camera and fast-moving little ones!)

Saturday- I invited my friend, Linda W, over to dine on three-cheese manicotti, salad, and bread sticks. Linda brought two bottles of wine from Turtle Run, a local winery in Corydon, Indiana. I have found an appreciation for wine after drinking their Rufus Red (named after their lovable dog that runs the grounds). The conversation was a great compliment to the food and drink!

Sunday- Oh, was this a busy day! I went to Amanda's baby shower and enjoyed myself very much while she was showered with gifts! Watch here ---> http://olliesescapades.blogspot.com/ <--- for details. (I want pictures!!!) I forgot my camera in the frenzy of getting out the door with our little ones, presents, and a diaper bag stuffed to the gills for a full day outing. Jessica and Mom watched Chloe so I could have some 'me time'. James spent the afternoon with Joseph and his Dad, eating in Corydon and then playing at Hayswood Park. Afterwards, we drove to Mom's and spent a few hours visiting. We could not leave without walking over to the neighbor's place to visit the chickens, goats, ducks, and pigs.

We walked in the door around 930pm- way past bedtimes! Who says you can't sacrifice a little sleep for some fun????

Amusements In Central Park

I snapped this one in the nick of time before Joseph excitedly made his way down the slide (more than once, I might add)!

He knelt for sticks, and found walnuts too.

Oh, and did he ever find sticks.

This was our first trip to Central Park in Old Louisville. I have been there before by myself, but not with the little ones. I'm curious how many steps he took today!! We saw birds and squirrels galore playing under the trees. By the way, the trees in this park are massive and offer the best shade around in my book. We spied much at the park: an elderly man feeding a squirrel from a bread bag, a squirrel (possibly the same one) getting a drink of water from a fountain, a dog being trained to sit (Joseph did not help with this...), a blackbird taking a bath near a water hose, a noisy airplane overhead (the first he pointed out to me that I can recall), and much more. Despite the low humidity, the weather was warmer than what I had anticipated, so we called it an afternoon and headed home. Sweat beads and all. I cannot wait for the day when we take Joseph hiking and camping!

Let's Do It Again....Say, Next Week??

After our walk around town, I was happy that Chloe extended her nap in the stroller

so I could tend to Brother who found himself on the dining room table

making notes on his stomach and the calendar.

We had just finished a walk up 5th Street to see the Ohio River and the George Rogers Clark statue at the belvedere. Joseph kept pointing up at the statue in amazement! I kicked myself for not bringing the camera to capture the moment. I sat Joseph on the base of the statue and pointed to George's extremely large feet. Ha, the look on Joseph's face! We also tried to befriend a squirrel that Joseph wanted to 'see' so badly. The squirrel ran away once he realized we came without treats and that he was up against a persistent toddler. Joseph waved bye-bye to the squirrel. (Note to self: Bring the camera and critter treats on our future outings.)
