Thanksgiving Is Every Day...

Our family celebrated Thanksgiving today. Last night my brother, Daniel, came from Jasper and spent the night to spend the holiday with us. Joseph woke up last night and was surprised to see Uncle Dan sitting at the computer Googling something about chess, molecular genetics, or quantum computing...you know...the usual...for Daniel! Joseph said what I believe was his version of 'Uncle Dan' when he was getting out of bed this morning.

Uncle Duane and Auntie Christine came this afternoon to share in a large feast that James prepared. We dined on turkey, ham (James made a brown sugar glaze!), yeast rolls, green bean casserole (I made this...teeh, heeh), potato salad, deviled eggs, and turkey stuffing. We had a great time chatting over delicious, warm traditional foods. Duane and Christine loved watching Joseph sign for 'more' yeast rolls! (He's like his Momma...loves the bread!)

After dinner, the guys caught up while Christine and I went through a few boxes of baby goodies for Little Simon- their soon-to-be-arrival! She is now 33 weeks, and is feelin' every week of it! She's all belly, and is cute as a button pregnant. Little Simon was gifted a lot of Joseph's clothes....I reminisced looking at the little gowns for night-night, his little shoes, and outfits that he outgrew. Even while he ran from room to room, laughing, showing off for his uncles and aunt, those little baby moments were being searched for in my memory.

This was Chloe's first Thanksgiving. She won't remember any of it, but I will, a lot of moments. She was lavished with affection by her uncles. She showed them her new sounds (ya ya ya, ba, ba, ba, da, da, da), her speedy commando crawl, and her pull-to-stand! Oh, and let me not forget impatience! Ha! She grunted and kicked her legs in between bites of food while I was shoveling it in as fast as possible!

Our camera slept through the whole day--shame on him! I was happy to be in the moment and enjoy others enjoying our Little Ones. A few still frames remain in my mind tonight as I write: Joseph's little hand on Christine's belly (we told him his baby cousin was in there); Daniel sharing rhyming words with Chloe (goggle, boggle, coddle, moddle); James cooking his heart out, then relaxing afterwards with Duane and Daniel; Duane loving up to Chloe and she was talking to him; Joseph running around in his yellow pajamas that Emma bought for him (he wore them tonight for the first time)...so cute and fuzzy! These are the days I live for...family days!

For health and food, for love and friends,

Happy Snappy Photo Session With Lacey!!

You must click over to our friend's blog, Photography by Lacey. Yesterday, we met 'prebonfire' at our friend Mindy's house for a photo session and had a blast taking photos! We were threatened with gray skies and mist, but we prevailed!

Lacey has this natural ability for capturing the moment, which pours onto every photo she takes. Wouldn't you agree?!! Take a look at the photos she took for our family. I know you'll 'ooh and aaaaah' over her work just as much as we did! Thank you, Lacey, for such a fun time.
To share my love of quotations, I found a suitable quote that will rise to this photog occasion:

"A really great talent finds its happiness in execution." ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Discovering The Animals

James took Joseph on his first excursion to the zoo!

This was one of the last warm, beautiful days of the year, and what a way to spend it having fun outdoors. Joseph learned that the animals on his books' pages actually come alive!

What a great photo!
James picked the perfect spot for this father & son snap- directly in front of a favorite!

James had to keep Joseph from crawling in with the ducks! He really wanted to get under the fence!

Joseph was enthralled! I would love to know what this turtle is telling Joseph.... "Tell your Daddy to bring you back next year...."

And, what would a visit to the zoo be without driving the safari bus? Watch out!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

It's going to be a howling Halloween!

Today is James's birthday, and a holiday too! (I can picture him as a little boy trick or treating..."trick or treat.....oh, and today is my birthday too....")
Happy
Birthday
, James, we love you!

At the moment, I'm undecided how I want to celebrate Halloween with the little ones...
....stay home and make ghosts with Joseph and Chloe
....photo some festively decorated lawns before the decorations are stored away
....go to Dad's (and risk getting them sick...I better not....)
.... find other little ones treating in the area on Halloween

We'll see how the day plays out. Joseph will love running around in a costume for the next month, even if no candy is involved (he won't know the difference). And, Chloe, she will love being a princess or a pumpkin, or a pumpkin princess, for her first Halloween.

The other night before reading books and before bed time, James put on a show for the three of us to enjoy. Spontaneous, full of laughter and love. With Chloe on my right (leg) and Joseph on my left, we sat in anticipation for some entertainment from Daddy. James juggled his colorful bean bag balls way up in the air, spinning them, and even did a toss or two under his leg. Joseph sat in merriment with his eyes glued to James! And Chloe, well, let's just say she enjoyed it more than anything! She tensed up her body with excitement, squealed and kicked her little legs with glee! Very cute! It's just one of those precious priceless moments that I'll remember for a long time to come.

Until the next show, and when the camera is on point, this picture will have to substitute (he's almost as cute as James):

Would you like to see a future juggling act, too? or pictures of how we spent our Halloween?

Sticking To My Day Job

The Little Ones are sleeping soundly in their beds... I thought I would take a few moments to share an update.

Yesterday Mom and my nephew, Jimi, came to visit. I had to reschedule Joseph's ABR since he has a cold virus. These symptoms reared their ugly heads Monday then worsened through the week. I was holding onto promise that it was just allergies, but I was proven wrong. One virus down....how many to go? We had much more fun hanging out than being sedated for an ABR, despite the coughs and runny nose:

Jimi--I cannot believe he will be twelve soon!

Mom and Chloe-
it's a little cloudy, but it's a shot! Beautiful Sissy is still working on her first tooth!

My Dad and Em came over this morning and brought with them a wonderful surprise! James and I were just saying that we needed to buy one for this season! They also came packing goodies of cereal, juices, and crackers--all of Joseph's favorites. We had a fun catch up visit while Joseph carried all the goodies into the living room to share with us!

Today I am missing out on a get together that I organized at my friend Val's house. (Good goin', right?) The girls still manage to get together, and especially now that we have children tales to swap. There's fun to be had! Leigh, Valerie, and Lacey were planning to be there. Alhough we have kept in touch over the phone, I have not seen Leigh since a bonfire gathering last fall...and it's that time again! Can't wait to her at this year's bonfire! My longtime friend Lacey recently purchased a new camera (for her upcoming business venture!!!) and was planning to take a few shots of the Little Ones. I was really looking forward to that, so we're tentatively rescheduling that date. I'll definitely show off her talent when we have some pictures that she's taken. And, Val, I'll probably not see her until after the holidays! ha! Her Little One turned 1 last month.

I better cut this short before the Little Ones wake up and I run out of 'chore time'.

One last parting gesture before I go (from Joseph):

"Ode to Ill"

It's not a thrill to be ill
better liquid than a pill
coughs, sneezes, and snots be nill
healthier soon and never still

"These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things..."

We shared a great family day today!

James was off work and I was certain we would be steadfast and headstrong unpacking boxes, organizing our belongings. Rather, we lounged and played and made invisible the boxes that surrounded us! :) I even took an hour nap while both Little Man and Chloe-Chloe were sleeping. (a fifteen minute power nap turned one hour nap- the first eight minutes I remember thinking, "I have this and this and this to get done.....but, this feels so good..."

Joseph's speech therapist, Kim, came toting her goodie bags this morning and offered us encouragement about Joseph's progress. Joseph's sign knowledge has increased and he's vocalizing more sounds than during his last appointment. Kim is such a creative, fun, and thoughtful person. A great match suggested and paired with us from Courtney. Recently, Kim's company had decided to end it's in-home health care program. We're keeping our fingers crossed that she will continue in her field. We love her and she's great at interacting with little tots and their parents.

After naps and lunches, we took a stroll to Mid-City Mall to check out a nearly new shop. Closed. We walked around a few streets near our place, then made our way to Tyler Park ( I love the bridge! and the sloping hills to the park--great for sleigh rides!), where Joseph played and James pushed him on the swings. Chloe-Chloe even took a ride in a toddler swing and absolutely loved it. Gummy grins and giggles. Joseph thought it was too cool to get to swing next to his sister.

Another beautiful day "finding happiness in the Highlands" <-- the street banners on Bardstown Road have this slogan on them Oh, and I found out a duet group The Watson Twins, which I saw on Jay Leno a few nights ago, is from Louisville. Louisville = full of surprises

Happy 31 years, and 1 day to me!

Yes, yesterday was my birthday! I celebrated by unpacking, rescheduling and making appointments, wiping dirty bottoms, and catching up on laundry!

Naw, actually we celebrated my birthday Sunday with Dad, Emma, and Sasha. James surprised me with a cake from ValuMarket, a local grocery who makes the best cakes of all! It was air-brushed hot pink and was laced with purple ribbon icing and topped off with two huge flowers. Very pretty. While James and Dad caught up on things, all of us girls walked to KFC and brought back lunch for all to eat. After eating, we pigged out on cake and strawberry ice cream. They surprised me with the cutest purse- ILI- and some $money$ to boot!

Joseph and Chloe picked out a beautiful card for me and even wrote in it (it must've been Joseph's penmanship since he's the older of the two):

We can't talk yet but if we could we would say often how much we love you!

Your loving children,
Joseph and Chloe

xoxo xoxo

My brother, Daniel, called me yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday. It's always great to hear from him, but to know that he thought of me made it that more special. Dan is such a sweet and loving guy. We're planning to have him visit us really soon in our new place. I think he'll have a good time with the L.O.s (Little Ones).
